APPLE’S ANNOUNCES SMART ‘HOMEKIT’

At Monday’s developer conference, Apple finally declared its intentions to officially join the Smart Homes industry sector. The new initiative is called ‘Homekit’ and will allow you to control a variety of smart home devices ranging from locks, and light bulbs to thermostats and security sensors. One of the big selling points for this initiative is that it allows you to use one single app to be included in the upcoming iOS 8 to control all of these multiple connected smart home devices. Apple also noted at the conference that the new Homekit will support voice control via Siri and various types of a home automation scenes. Will keep you updated once we hear more details.

MICROSOFT HAS CONFIRMED ITS SMARTWATCH PLANS

Crunchwear has reported this week that Microsoft is getting closer to announcing its plan for a smartwatch. According to the article, it is likely that the new smartwatch may work with popular mobile operating systems, namely iOS and Android. The use of gestures appears to be a core component of this upcoming smartwatch product.
